A whole county knocked offline.
Winter Storm Fern (February 2026) tore through Alcorn, snapping roughly 750 poles and dragging fiber to the ground across the community. With the main line down and service drops severed, the county lost connectivity. When the fiber is down, the internet is down, and Alcorn went dark.
This was no routine repair. Crews worked through downed trees and storm debris from before dawn until after dark, and fiber damage is unforgiving. One hidden break a quarter mile down the line can keep a home offline long after the visible splice looks finished, so every restored line was tested back to the terminal to confirm a clean signal.

The largest crew on site, and the last to leave.
ACE Fiber brought in multiple contractors for the restoration, 220 resources in all. Cahaba fielded 43 of them, the single largest contingent on the job.
Our crews placed mainline fiber on the rebuilt poles, set the multi-service terminals that feed each customer, ran service drops to the home, and spliced the network back together. We tested the drops we restored back to the terminal and rehabbed the system until light levels were clean. When ACE began releasing crews, Cahaba was among the last on site.
2,100 customers back online.
Across the effort, Cahaba helped restore 39 miles of main line, worked through roughly 200 fiber closures, and picked up 2,100 service drops, reconnecting 2,100 customers across Corinth. It was also a milestone for Cahaba, the first large-scale storm restoration to show the company can field quality resources and lead a fiber restoration from start to finish.
